Partnership – Rough Sleepers

MK Council are reaching out to churches and communities across Milton Keynes to explore opportunities to work together to support people sleeping rough during periods of severe weather (mainly extreme cold temperatures).

They write:

As part of our Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP), we are looking for churches or communities that may be able to offer suitable space where people can have a safe, warm place and a bed for the night.

We would provide the support around this, including financial assistance, security and our experienced Rough Sleeper Team, who would work alongside you to ensure the provision is safe and well managed. We are primarily looking for suitable accommodation and a willingness to work in partnership with us.

We know that many churches and communities across Milton Keynes are already closely connected with their local communities, and we would welcome the opportunity to build on this through a practical partnership that supports people when they are most vulnerable.

If you have suitable space, ideas around how this could work, or any opportunity to collaborate, we would very much welcome a conversation with you.

Please email the MK Council team on CCTeam@milton-keynes.gov.uk if your church would like to get involved
